Exegesis will be celebrating the release of their new CD, "The Harmony of the Anomaly." Exegesis is a New York based trio heavy on technology, improvisation and powerful original compositions. For this gig, guitarist Nick Demopoulos will also be performing with an instrument he invented called "The Smomid," a touch sensitive string-like instrument. The band will also be playing some of the science-fiction inspired, futuristic music featured on their new release. Nick Demopoulos-guitar, Danton Boller-bass, Doug Hirlinger-drums.

KAORU WATANABE GROUP Kaoru specializes in the Japanese bamboo flutes, the shinobue, as well as Japanese taiko drum and western flute. After graduating from Manhattan School of Music for jazz performance, Kaoru went on to join and eventually direct the internationally renowned taiko drum ensemble Kodo. Kaoru's music draws from various Japanese traditional theater and festival traditions, blending them with contemporary techniques of improvisation. Recent collaborations include works with various musicians, dancers and visual artists such as Jason Moran, calligrapher Koji Kakinuma and Tamango. improvised duo with Kenny Endo |
