“Acerbo is a storyteller and it shows on every track. His strongest quality is one often found in great authors. He uses metaphor to create visuals that lift upbeat moments higher and add greater depth to moments of despair. ” - Lionel B Queen, digital hippos

“Indie folk rocker, Mike Acerbo knows his purpose in life, and that is to make beautiful music. His debut album, The Search (2.14.2012) takes listeners on a magnificent musical journey of loss, love and magic.” - Lawanda Johnson, Limerance Mag.com

Ten years in the making, singer/ songwriter Mike Acerbo's debut album has been called a Fairy Tale for the senses.  Born in the Bronx and raised in the hamlet of Pearl River, NY the rising alternative folk star has infused an interesting take on the genre mixing cellos, fiddles, recorders, keyboards, brass and electric guitars to create a sound all his own.   The songs are personal, poetic and poignant representing the artist's perspective on relationships, loss, and the struggle to find ones self. After moving to New York City in the spring of 1996, Acerbo met Geoffrey Kiorpes (pianist) and Leah Coloff (cellist). Together they helped Mike to formulate his raw talent into a more cohesive sound and fully realize the vision he had for his music. Vocal and personal problems derailed his initial attempts at recording and he abandoned his musical pursuits in 2003. In the summer of 2009 he recorded a demo of the song "Robbie" written about a childhood friend who passed away. The experience inspired him to return to the studio and record "The Search".  The resulting self-produced album, full of dark imagery and poetry is a journey through Acerbo's personal and musical travels.  Acerbo’s influences are broad – ranging from Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell to the alternative sounds of Kate Bush and Sufjan Stevens.  His song "Trilby" was recently featured on College Music Journal's Website and his record has been getting airplay nationwide at Radio.  Additionally "The Search" was recently featured on AOL's  Indie Spinner.  Joining him tonight for his Record Release show at Drom will be guitarist Tony Salvatore from the band Betty, drummer Rich Kulsar who has worked with Roger Waters and Norah Jones,  engineer Ben Lindell on bass and the aforementioned Geoffrey Kiorpes and Leah Coloff along with a few other guests.
