The Emily Fund

Cecelia

Join Cecelia Ticktin in her fourth annual summer concert inspired by The Emily Fund. Having recently made it to the final round of The Lotte Lenya Competition, hosted by the Kurt Weill Foundation, and having had the pleasure of performing in the first New York workshop of acclaimed writing duo Carner and Gregor’s new song cycle, “Island Song,” at 92Y Tribecca, Cecelia has run the gamut of vocal material during her first full year in New York, and is excited to make her first foray into performing more popular music. This concert will feature a host of pop/rock and jazz covers and mash-ups, as well as a couple of new songs written by friends of the performer.

This summer concert series is inspired by Cecelia’s involvement in The Emily Fund (emilyfund.org); a memorial fund created in memory of the late Emily Silverstein. Emily's compassion, passion and creativity touched many lives.  She was an active leader promoting numerous social causes, including peace and conflict resolution, environmental sustainability, animal and human rights, and ending hunger and homelessness. The fund was set up to continue Emily's legacy of hope in action for a better world, and provides scholarships, programs and resources to inspire young people to make a difference in their communities. This concert will act as a vehicle for those who new Emily and those who were not fortunate enough to know Emily alike to come together and celebrate life, music, and the joy we are able to find in both.
