New York Women Composers Organization presents selected vocal and piano compositions and Danielle Freeman's Ensemble. Danielle Freeman's Ladies and Gentlemen Ensemble is a culmination of her musical vision to bring dynamic range and vocal independence within a quintet ensemble, navigating between classical and American jazz forms. All About Jazz Magazine stated, " “With the poise of an opera diva and an ability to scat like Ella Fitzgerald, New York-based singer Danielle Freeman possesses a voice that commands attention with beauty and control on her debut, Dorian." She is also the leader of the Bass and Voice Duo-Toss the Microphones which is an intimate musical setting of her compositions allowing freedom for the voice and the bass to interchange harmony, bass figure and melody. Improvisational risk, melodic exploration and performing as acoustically as possible breathe excitement and intensity to each live performance.
The evening will open with selected works of the NY Women Composers Organization performed by Danielle Freeman. The following set is a performance by Danielle Freeman's Ladies and Gentlemen Ensemble. This performance has been made possible by the New York Women Composers Organization's Seed Grant.
