Manami Morita Album Release Concert
Japanese native jazz pianist, Manami Morita is celebrating the release of her third album "When Skies are Grey" with an exciting night filled with new music and close friends. Morita featured many of her best friends on this new release, experimenting and expanding her unique compositional and improvisational style far beyond that of her previous works. Morita, being strongly affected by the recent earthquake in Northeastern Japan, rediscovered the importance and value of friendship in our lives. This album is an expression of her appreciation and gratitude for all those who have enriched her life.
Morita graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2008 with a degree in Jazz Composition. In 2009, she joined the International Kodolanyi Jazz Competition in Hungary and was awarded the Outstanding Performer Award. Morita has performed with internationally acclaimed musicians, such as Esperanza Spalding, Greg Hopkins, Mark Walker, Rosa Pasos, Oscar Stagnaro and more.
