In the winter of 2010, frustrated songwriter and multi instrumentalist Alex Feder -- previously known as the frontman of Brooklyn band The XYZ Affair -- nearly gave up on his childhood ambitions and quit music. Instead, he chose to move across the country to Los Angeles and create R&B singer
Leonard Friend, a musical altar ego named after his grandfather, who abandoned a promising career as a big  band saxophonist when he entered the family's traveling salesman business. The soundtrack for Feder's cross country journey -- Michael Jackson's Dangerous, The Dismemberment Plan's Emergency and I, Usher's Confessions, Phil Collins' Face Value, the Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell duets, and the first three records by The Time -- became the roots for his new project, which Feder would officially unveil with the debut EP Lynyrd Frynd.

Boshra AlSaadi was born in Syria, traversed the Atlantic to suburban Pennsylvania for a spin in Catholic school, ventured to NYC's East Village in her late teens, cut her teeth as co-frontwoman for indie rock band Looker, then spent the last 2 years singing for Luaka Bop's Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang. It's an enchanting back story no doubt, but it merely hints at the edges of the spirit of the songstress.  Her voice possesses a rare blend of churning passion and disembodied detachment, and it's no surprise she cites Brian Eno as an influence; her sounds harken to the 1970's pop-savvy and latter day electronic experiments of that musical wizard.

A musical veteran of New York City, SAADI has culled her eclectic and worldly influences to create a New World Music, reminiscent of no wave, afro-disco, reggae, shoegaze, post-punk, and dabke. SAADI emerges as a solo artist with a groovy multinational band and music that is of this world.
