Banda Magda was born in New York and raised by accordionist/pianist/vocalist and chef d'orchestre Magda Giannikou. The music is centered around Magda's original French Songs, but the very international band spices up the repertoire with songs that Magda sings in Italian, Spanish, English, Portugese and Greek.
Recently graduated from Berklee College of Music, the talented saxophonist Hailey Niswanger already played with the greatest, including Dee Dee Bridgewater, George Duke, Red Holloway, Terell Stafford, Phil Woods, Maceo Parker, Mark Whitfield and others. She has released two jazz albums acclaimed by the critics, including a Wall Street Journal profile by Nat Hentoff, who described her first album, Confeddie, as a "vibrantly building thrust of swinging surprises."
