She was born in Alsancak, Izmir. She started her music career with lessons from Durmus Yazicioglu and Mustafa Hossu, two very well-known composer-directors, learning baglama when she was in middle school. After a short time, she was accepted to perform in live broadcast at TRT (Turkish Radio and Television) Izmir Radio, in their orchestra. In 1972, she began studying guitar to continue her musical career. Over the next few years, she also studied tambur and voice with her father who was a soloist and tambur player at TRT Izmir Radio. In 1987, she completed her studies at “ 9 EYLUL FAKULTESI “ in English Literature. She was employed as an English Teacher and also as a translator for a medical supply company.

In 1988, she passed the TRT examination in Ankara and was accepted as a soloist. She remained there until 1992. Some of her key concerts included those for the Prime Minister and other political dignitaries, as well as the Turkish Air Force and many others. In 1993, she passed her examination and transferred to TRT Istanbul Radio and Television. She was personally trained, along with her fellow TRT musicians, with the world class composers of TRT. Throughout her life, Tulin has been dedicated to her music, as well as her love for the English language.

In 2000, Tulin had the opportunity to give a concert in New York. This was the impetus for her to move to United States. Based in New York, here is a sampling of her achievements: she directed the American Turkish Women’s League Choral group, gave a concert for the Turkish Armenian Ud Master Udi Hrant at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, performed at the Lecture-Concert “The Music of Turkey” at Stevens Institute of Technology and continued as a soloist. Currently Tulin works for the Board of Education, while pursuing her masters degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, as well as continuing her musical career in United States.
