Michelle Newman
 - (Set time: 8:00 PM)

Michelle Newman returns to the New York music scene bringing fresh, hook-laden songs that combine a rock/pop sound with elements of soul and blues. With influences ranging from Stevie Wonder to Janis Joplin, Michelle Newman composes raw, catchy melodies that correspond with their poetic lyrics. Born in Brooklyn, raised in Jersey, Michelle eventually settled in New York City. Impacted by classic rock legends from very early on, (her parents took her to her first Pink Floyd concert at age 5), music was a constant in her life. Michelle began playing the violin at 4, the piano by 7, the saxophone by 10, and the drums by 14. But it was when she traded in her sax for her first guitar that Michelle's true passion materialized. She slowly began playing in small bars and clubs around Manhattan and was greeted with strong local acclaim. It was only when she moved to Los Angeles that she decided to take her music to the next level, constantly reworking her material and seeking a team of talented musicians to bring the songs to life. In 2004, she teamed up with co-writer/producer Tre Carn (Ice T), and together they built a solid catalog of songs. Soon after, they put together a band, The Newman Project, recorded a full length album, and played throughout the LA club scene. In 2006, however, Michelle decided to pull the plug on the band and re-record as a solo artist. She teamed up with producer Jason "J-Money" Kirk (Optimus), and together they recorded a self titled, 4 song EP. In March of 2008, Michelle returned to her beloved New York and hit the club scene immediately. In Spring 2011, Michelle plans to put out her recently comlpeted EP entitled "If." Check back in for upcoming show dates. Here's what some critics have said: "Michelle Newman has a dynamic texture to her voice. Whether Michelle is singing a straight rock tune like "Pay it Forward", or a down and dirty number like" Jack Daniels," the emotion always rings true. -- Carolyn Fox, host of the syndicated music show "KHZ Radio with Carolyn Fox." "Newman has a very troubling Joplin-ish, Joe Cocker desperation with vocals that jump right out and bite you, building and breaking like the never ending surf. . . it's very good. Crazy Mary - (Set time: 7:00 PM)

Anyone who experienced New York’s gritty, exciting, and gloriously vibrant music scene in the 1970s, ’80s, or ’90s will tell you the same thing: Their city is gone. Wiped out by a Stalin-esque, Disney-driven coup and replaced with a staid world of theme restaurants and karaoke bars. It’s as if when the soul was sucked out of Manhattan by real estate developers the music went along with it. Or so it would seem, however, until you’ve heard the music of New York band Crazy Mary.
Formed by veteran Lower East Side guitarist and songwriter Charles Kibel and drummer Nick Raisz, Crazy Mary has been conjuring its refreshingly oddball avant-garage rock since 1998. A bubbling cauldron of chiming and scraping guitars, creepy organ, spacey, experimental sounds, Dada-ish pranksterism, and absurdly danceable rhythms, the band distills it all into a surreal cocktail of post-punk/psychedelic weirdness. And now, with the recent additions of legendary underground violinist Walter Steding and expatriate Australian vocalist Em Z, things have gotten even weirder. In a good way, of course.

BRBRCK - (Set time: 9:00 PM)

The Scranton Gangster. The Mythical Rapping White Boy from Brooklyn. The Global Citizen.
This is BRBRCK.
Mike Berberich (aka BRBRCK) is a genre-bending hip hop songwriter based in Brooklyn, New York, where he writes and produces all of his own music. His catalogue spans an eclectic range of sounds, from 80s synthpop to roadhouse blues to progressive jazz. The narratives that BRBRCK crafts are equally diverse, from old school jams about stealing rhymes to commentary on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, written during his time spent in the West Bank and Jordan. His live shows are an explosion of energy, with a full band backing the MC as he weaves his witty sense of humor through a nonstop barrage of spitfire wordplay and brass-knuckle punchlines. In 2008, BRBRCK released "Scranton Gangster," his debut album, in part because of the extensive radio play his single "Scranton Gangster" received on Top 40 regional radio stations in his home state of Pennsylvania. Since then, he has penned over 200 songs and has collaborated with a diverse group of artists, including accomplished jazz bassist Felix Pastorius, Anna Morsett of the band "Yet Cut Breath," and dozens of local Brooklyn MCs and producers. BRBRCK is currently finishing production on his sophomore album, "Pardon the Languish," and plans to tour extensively in the US and abroad.
