Wind of Anatolia was founded in 2007, by musicians who felt the need for performing Turkish folk music where they live. Their goal was to reach for more discerning listeners. Wind of Anatolia has changed and transformed over the years and now includes both traditional, classical and popular music in its repertoire. Wind of Anatolia has been performing in various stages year round and is delighted to be sharing unforgettable moments with music lovers from all walks of life!

Balkan Theory - 10.00pm

The 6 piece band Balkan Theory is made up of musicians from Macedonia, Turkey, Serbia and Bulgaria. For this project clarinetist Sal Mamudoski works with traditional folk material from the Balkans, using popular Roma tunes with a big mix of Jazz, Classical, Hip-hop and Techno background. Adding complex rhythm, heart wrenching melodies, dense ornamentation and amazing improvisation. Balkan Theory is a chemistry explosion. 

THE MUSICIANS 
               
Selaedin (Sal) Mamudoski - clarinet-  The Macedonian Roma musician was born in Nyc in 1988. He started his musical journey at age 5 playing drums.He started to play the clarinet at age 10. by the the time he reached the age of 12 he started playing at the local Roma weddings. Shortly after he caught the attention of Virtuoso Saxophonist Yuri Yunakov and began his musical studies with him and performed together on stages including concerts,festivals weddings all around the country with the Yuri Yunakov Ensemble. Sal has performed with numerous artists such as Ismail Lumanovski, Tamer Pinarbasi, Ara Dinkjian , Hasan Isakkut, Ivan Milev and many more. Sal Mamudoski has performed in numerous concerts,festivals in Europe and the U.S. 

Caner Fuat Tokgozol - Oud - He was born in 1984.He first started music  studies at his 6 years old with a Turkish classical instrument  the "ud".He has the advantage of getting piano lessons in Samsun Music Conservotary too.He studied on vocal and piano (Turkish Classical Music ) for three years.During these years his interest to and western music drew him to contemporary jazz and world music.In 2002 he attended to Ankara University and in the same time he started his music studies with Kadri Sarman professionally.He attended to T.R.T Ankara Choir Recordings. (2004 - 2006).He performed with Turay Dinleyen, Elif Guresci, Ayse Tas , Goksel Baktagir,Husnu Senlendirici, Sedat Yuce,Ankara City Orchestra and many more.In 2007 he came to New York and started to  his music studies with Adam Birnbaum on jazz and world music. He performed with Tamer Pinarbasi,Adam Birnbaum,Hasan Isakkut, Yuri Yunakov,Charles Hampstead, Ara Dinkjian and many more. He is working on his single album project.

Vladan Mijatovic - Keybords- He was born in Serbia in 1984. He comes from music adored family in which generations, for decades, nurtured traditional (Folk) music in a special way. He finished Music School department (Piano) in his hometown and then his musical educations continued at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich (Germany) department (Jazz Piano), where he graduated with honors, in the class of the world famous Jazz pianist, Leonid Chizhik. In 2010 he received a scholarship from Berklee College of Music in the USA (Boston). Being the best in class, he was awarded the scholarship by his school. In 2010 he went to his first competition and has won the first prize for Jazz-Piano in the class of all universities in Germany. 2012 he has finished his Master degree and at the same year he has won first prize at International Jazz-Piano competition in Freiburg (Germany). The combination of music with that region (East Europe), special technic of playing, build ornaments and poly-rhythmic beats, his dynamic and at the same moment sensitive spirit, together with the knowledge of Jazz music what he studied for years, he contributed to building a distinctive and unique musical style, which is making him unique artist.

Martin Doykin - Bass - Born in Pazardjik, Bulgaria to the family of a musician, Martin has been playing the bass since he was 13 years old. Early education includes attending the music school in Plovdiv, later followed by a Bachelor's degrees in fine arts at the National Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York.Martin's current history as a performer includes performing at various European Jazz festivals and clubs such as: Saalfelden Jazz Festival, Austria; Porgy and Bess jazz club, Viena; Marian's Jazz Room, Bern; Rovigo music festival , Italy; 2nd Cyprus Salsa Cubana Festival, Django Reinhardt North-West, Seattle; Cyprus and others. Mr. Doykin has performed with artitsts such as: Mark Small, Colin Stranahan, Wayne Marshall, Frankie Morales, Herman Olivera, Asen Doykin, Antony Donchev etc.
 Martin is currently living in New York City.

Burak Sirin -Drums-  Born in Istanbul,Turkey. Burak's grandfather Engin Arinmis had a great inspiration on him, he was the first producer and musical manager in Turkey. Burak has performed in numerous concerts with his grandfather then he started playing drums. He played with lots of singers and bands in Turkey. He later earned a scholarship and enrolled into Berklee Music School in Boston. Burak is officially endorsed by Istanbul Mehmet cymbals, Liberty drums, Los Cabos drumsticks, Tune-bot drum tuner and Kickport.

Ilker Ciraci - Percusion- Originally from Izmir, TURKEY,Ilker Ciraci is one of the most versatile and sought-after percussionists in New York City.He started his music career on frame drum at the age of 15.After performing regularly with local bands and folkloric dance groups for several years, Ilker decided to pursue his musical studies in Izmir. He was accepted into the Ege University State Conservatory in fall of 2002 where he studied with legendary musicians and educators.Since his arrival to United States, he is still performing with various bands, dj's and continuing his musical search.
