Headlining Artists - DOG SOCIETY - 8PM

dogsociety

NYC pop rock collective, Dog Society, return from a self imposed 20 yr hiatus to create a long awaited second album that outshines their heralded major label debut, Test Your Own Eyes (East-West / Atlantic Records).   The foursome; Brian Schnaak, Bruce Erik Brauer, Rich Guerzon, and Joe Ranieri, regroup and showcase their immense talent and musical prowess in every single moment of their newest independently released album, Emerge.
Co-produced by Rob Schnaapf and Tom Rothrock (Beck, Elliot Smith), Emerge is the sound of the band recapturing their spirit.  Those who knew of Dog Society back when they were touring the country, opening for Sheryl Crow, Stone Temple PilotsMighty Mighty BosstonesBlondie featuring Debbie Harry, The Fray and Daughtry will appreciate that their patience was well worth it and new fans will be amazed at the fluid mix of psychedelic rock and raw pop sensibility from such seasoned musicians.
An expansive air of maturity hangs over Emerge, as this time around it seems nothing is holding them back and they have an arsenal of life experience to offer.  The biting lyrical dance of “Salt” reflects upon a marriage gone bad that perhaps wasn’t right to begin with.  The opening line “Beneath the wedding veil the eyes are tearing” ends with a telling refrain “give me back my freedom”.  Other songs such as “Being Here” celebrate finding yourself and living your dream, with a powerful hook that showcases Dog Society’s unwavering determination to pursue their musical legacy, full force.
Dog Society originally took their name from the Hidatsa Indian Tribes who played a dominant role in the Cheyenne resistance to American expansion.  A fitting name for a group of NY rock rebels that have cast off the major label machine, held true to their camaraderie and succeeded in coming into their own as a band through their individual journeys.  Coming full circle, they have joined forces once again to create an album that is true to their own hearts.  Emerging back onto the live scene, emerging with new material, peering through the glass wall and breaking through once again.
