Sweetcane

Sweetcane's distinctive vocal and innovative Reggae blends have been finding their way into the hearts of groove music lovers for over two decades. Drawing from a diverse background as a guitarist sideman in the big city afro music scene, Sweetcane songs are highlights of musical nostalgia in the afro cultural experience. From vintage beginnings in Jamaican group Waterhouse/Chicago, rocking an early guitar skank, to the depths of the Haitian "Racine" movement, where the debut classic 'Roots Carnaval' is embraced by the Vodoun intelligentsia, Sweetcane continues notching a belt that includes major events like the New Orleans Voodoo and Montreal Jazz festivals and Central Park summer stage. After meticulously streamlining a mélange of hip, afrocentric rhythms into a signature pop Reggae formula, Sweetcane stands ready to deliver, in 2014, a new body of work entitled "The Green album" that exudes the spirit of urban poet, earth -concious, roots culture and philosophy. Thus far, conducted largely under the radar, this will be the first effort to widely distribute, promote and perform this music. Look out for this one!
