THE SERGIO KRAKOWSKI ELECTRONIC DRUM PROJECT
breaks new ground in the realm of solo percussion expression. The percussion instrument triggers videos, control effects and interact with the machine, creating real time dialogues between percussionist and computer. Sergio will be joined by his band Coletivo Chama ("Collective Flame") - a group of artists at the epicenter of a new Brazilian scene of music that goes beyond the Tropicália genre and deconstructs Brazilian traditional rhythms, languages and melodics. DJ Jack Inslee (Full Service Party) rounds out the rest of the night with the latest and most innovative sounds from Brooklyn and beyond.

NY TIMES on SERGIO KRAKOWSKI
"Taking that most common of Brazilian instruments, the Pandeiro, he has transformed it into an astonishing rhythmic force. There are musicians who, in their time, don't just play the music of their day but innovate, creating new sounds and ideas. Sergio Krakowski is in that category." ~ Joe Nocera - NY Times

NY TIMES on SERGIO KRAKOWSKI AND COLETIVO CHAMA:
"In many ways, the musicians are extrapolating the heritage of tropicália, the 1960s movement that self-consciously and wittily modernized Brazilian pop. ( . . . ) They merged expansive melodies and math-rock curiosity; their upbeat arrangements changed from verse to verse, reconfiguring themselves like jigsaw puzzles with multiple solutions. ( . . . ) Their pieces were reflections on Brazilian dance rhythms; they let chords hover and tossed around little phrases and possibilities that eventually coalesced into a beat and a frisky tune. Then they melted it down and searched again."
