The Catalan Institute of America is proud to celebrate Catalonia’s National Day (September 11th) with a big concert of two Catalan artists, David Carabén of Mishima and NOIA (aka Gisela Fullà)

David Carabén is the lead vocalist and composer of the indie Catalan band Mishima. The have seven albums out, with songs in Catalan and English, that have been praised by critics around the world. Mishima’s latest album, “L’ànsia que cura” (TRIS-Warner, 2014), captures the raw energy of their live set and a sophisticated range of influences including The Smiths and JG. Ballard, Randy Newman and David Lynch, Tindersticks and the chanson française. 

Opening the concert will be NOIA (aka Gisela Fullà).

 is the solo project of music producer, sound designer and singer Gisela Fullà, a barcelonaut transplant living in Brooklyn, NY. Her music style draws from tropicalia music to leftfield R&B to House Pop and sound design. With lyrics sang in English, Spanish and Catalan.

Her latest EP “HABITS” is coming out on Oct14th via Cascine Records (US),GalaxxxySandwich (Spain) and Buen Dia Records (Mexico). As NOIA she has shared the stage with artists such as Empress Of, Kiah Victoria, Jose James.
