Luz was born in Cuenca, Ecuador. From a very young age she demonstrated her irrevocable passion for music and art. Luz is the Ecuadorian female artist with the most streams on Spotify and was chosen as the first Ecuadorian artist ambassador for Spotify’s global equal program, representing the Andean countries in the Equal Andes playlist, whose cover appeared 24 hours in Times Square.

Her grandfather, Mario, was the inspiration for her album “Mariposa Azul”, an album that led her to win several significant awards such as: First place at the Global Music Awards, Record of the Year at the Independent Music Awards in New York, Revelation Artist at the Ecuadorian Music Awards.

She has participated in prestigious festivals and theaters such as SXSW in Austin, Texas; Lincoln Center in New York, Riverside Music Festival, Barnard College Music Festival; Bam Music Festival; International Jazz Music Festival; among others.

She has shared the stage with artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Esteman, Rawayana, Simon Grossmann and Mareh. In addition, he opened the concert of Mon Laferte’s tour in Quito, Ecuador.

Sara Ontaneda:

Sara Ontaneda is an award-winning singer-songwriter based in New York City. Her music is a colorful blend of Pop, R&B and Folk sounds with heart-felt lyrics in both Spanish and English.

Sara discovered her passion for music at a young age. At age 7 she started piano lessons and at age 9 she joined her school’s choir in Miami, Florida. Throughout her childhood, splitting time between Guayaquil, Ecuador and Miami, she studied classical music. Her love for music led her to the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she majored in Contemporary Writing and Production.

Sara wrote all the lyrics, produced and was the recording engineer of her first EP, “Marte y Júpiter” released in 2015. This led Sara to tour in Ecuador as well as many cities of the US, including festivals like South By Southwest (SXSW 2017), MUSIKFEST, South Florida Folk Festival, among others.

In March 2017, Sara released her debut album, “Entre Espacios y Colores” which includes 4 songs in English and 5 in Spanish. Sonically, the album blends South-American R&B, and Alternative elements often described as Nu-Latin. The album received great reviews in the US and Latin-America. “Entre Espacios y Colores’ is an excellent album overall, with mainstream appeal… there’s no fluff, just great Nu-Latin jazz music. And Sara’s voice is not to be missed.” – The Huffington post
