Prilepski Zvezdi (Prilep Stars) is the top Roma (Gypsy) band from the city of Prilep Macedonia. They showcase the traditional music of their community of Macedonian Roma. They formed approximately ten years ago and since then have had steady bookings at community festivals, including weddings and other life-cycle events, New Year’s parties and  other calendrical holidays. They have also performed in Albania, Greece, and other Balkan countries, all over western Europe (e.g., Austria, Belgium, Germany), and in Australia at festivals, community events and gatherings.  Recent  performances include the Kinisi Festival of Sound in Santorini, Greece (2016);  Silvesterparty Vienna 2014;  and an Australian tour with the vocalist Nedzo.

Bilhan Macev

Bilhan Macev is one of the most famous Roma clarinet/saxophone players in Macedonia. As a young prodigy he was recruited into the prestigious band of Esma Redzepova/Stevo Teodosievski and travelled all over the world with them. He plays on several of Esma’s albums, including Esma Mon Historie (My Story, France, 2007) and Pomegju Dva Zivota (Between two lives, Skopje). Macev first performed in the USA with Esma in the 1990s and has since returned to perform for the NYC Roma community with Muharem Serbezovski and other famous singers. For the last decade he has led his own orchestra, Bilhan Macev Official, that performs all over the Balkans and western Europe. Recently they performed in Serbia, Bulgaria, Austria and Germany. Due to his stellar reputation Bilhan, is also frequently invited as a guest artist, such as with Prilepski Zvezdi. They have worked together in the past many times.
