Pipo Cipolatti & The Brooklyn Twist

Argentina’s Enfant Terrible, Pipo Cipolatti, founder of the legendary Pop/Rock band “Los Twist” in NY Pipo will reprise his most famous songs accompanied by his indisputable band, in a New York edition: The Brooklyn Twist. To Argentinians his songs are anthems, and they are sure to come out in force to salute him and the popular tradition he represents. With his peerless band he will create a night of dancing, celebration and just plain fun, in which New Yorkers of all backgrounds will experience a unique artist and a piece of musical history.

Hugo Cipolatti, known as Pipo (December 4, 1959), is an Argentine musician and composer, a master of pop who transforms a classic sound with a touch of the nonsensical and absurd.  Cipolatti formed several musical groups such as "La Goma", “Epitafio” and "The Pipes” In 1982, he met Daniel Melingo (saxophone player from “Los Abuelos de la Nada" and together they founded the cult pop/rock band: The Twist.

This group emerged as a forerunner of fun music in the new Argentinean 80s rock scene, with humorous-ironic lyrics, danceable melodies and revivalist spirit of the 50s and 60s, rescuing styles such as primitive rock and roll, rockabilly , Twist or even ska. Some of their hits include: "Pensé que se trataba de cieguitos", "Gustavo Pinto tiene vitiligo" and "Ritmo colocado", "Jugando hula-hula" from "La dicha en movimiento" "El hombre de la barra de hielo" (1983) and "El estudiante" from "Cataratas musicales" (1991).
