The Tango-Fado Project invites you to explore the connections between Argentinean Tango and Portuguese Fado with the unique sounds of bandoneon and Portuguese guitar, featuring four world-class musicians that specialize in the two genres: Daniel Binelli on bandoneon, Pedro da Silva on Portuguese guitar, and Polly Ferman and Lucia Caruso on piano. Although Tango and Fado originate in two distant countries, they are closely related in harmony, melody and theme while differing in rhythm and language. The Tango-Fado Project integrates both genres while going beyond them with exciting new compositions by Binelli, da Silva, and Caruso.

Binelli is widely acclaimed as the foremost exponent and torchbearer of the music of Astor Piazzolla, having been a member of Piazzolla's New Tango Sextet, and of Osvaldo Pugliese's Orchestra. Ferman is one of the leading interpreters of the music of the Americas, having been featured as a soloist with some of the greatest orchestras in the world, and her numerous recordings constitute one of the world’s most extensive collections of Latin American repertoire. Caruso is the founder and artistic director of the Manhattan Camerata – an innovative classical / World music chamber orchestra – and a pianist and composer whose music has been featured in several films and been performed all over the world. Da Silva is an eclectic composer who teaches courses at NYU and MoMA, and has performed in over a dozen countries on 18 different instruments such as sitar, mandolin, bouzouki and various types of guitar. He is the music director of the Manhattan Camerata.
