Maimouna Youssef

Maimouna Youssef

Maimouna Youssef is a singer who you may not realize you've heard sing on some of your favorite hip-hop tracks. For instance, she lent her vocal chops to The Roots' the 2007 Grammy-nominated hit "Don't Feel Right" and she recently appeared with Fatso on the track "These Jeans" that we shared with you last month. However, it's definitely short-changing to label this eclectic vocalist as a hook singer for rappers. Her portfolio contains long-time work as both a solo act and as one-third of the trio Three Generationz that also features former Fertile Ground lead singer Navasha Daya. This new song "Thank You" from Maimouna, featuring the guitar accompaniment of John Pollard, is a sweet introduction to Maimouna's vocals if you are not already familiar with her sound. If you are already a fan, then you'll be amazed with how the simplicity of her accompaniment only accents the natural beauty of her voice. Enjoy this free download and be sure to leave your feedback.

Margot B

The Creative and Performing Arts High School student went on to perform the title role in AIDA during her senior year, and appeared in commercials for GNC, Dad's Dog Food, and the Black Family Channel. Margot continued her training through the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Civic Light Opera, studied with vocal coach Claudia Benack, at Carnegie Mellon University, and completed Dance/Musical Theatre classes in the nationally-ranked dance program at Point Park University. While sharing the stage with Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Nelly Furtado, and Lupe Fiasco, Margot released Inspired – an EP featuring covers of songs by five African-American artists who truly inspired her to live her own dream. Margot also performed the National Anthem for countless national sporting events and charity fundraisers, and lent her talents to many regional entertainment acts. 2009 kicked off with Margot being named Best Female Vocalist at the Pittsburgh Hip Hop Awards, and hitting the recording studio to finish her second full-length CD Two Thousand Mine. The summer release coincided with her joining Jason Mraz on select tour dates.

Based out of New York City, Margot continues to write, take meetings with major labels, audition for roles, and wait for her moment. It wasn't the shelved Janet Jackson-backed "triple-threat" MTV reality show project, for which she beat out thousands of others for one of 10 spots. A nine-time call back finalist for Broadway's 'Spring Awakening', she knows her big break could be right around the's just a matter of keeping at it, staying focused, and working hard. Nobody does that better than Margot B!

Kia Bennet

Kia is about love, beauty, human nature, and God. Her music reflects
all those things. She quotes, “I want you to feel high without the feeling of a superficial one. Through my music, I want to create and redefine an atmosphere of love and beauty in all forms and on all levels, embracing you as you embark upon a new but classic feeling. It's all about the beauty of elevation. My music is universal and for all seasons. You can make love, clean the house, cook, entertain, drive, sleep, relax, get motivated and even get lost in it and be vulnerable..! The gimmick here is to not have one. Just be true….and be able to relate….and just know that there is somebody out there who
feels the way you do."
A native of Richmond,Virginia and a product of Howard University, Kia made her introduction into the entertainment world while singing with former Washington D.C. group “Entyme” along with other respected soul artists Geno Young, Sy Smith, and Yahzarah. Kia is a member of the new school RAMP (Roy Ayers Music Production) whose musical contributions provided the world with samples for hits like A Tribe Called Quest’s “Bonita Applebum”, Mary J. Blige’s “My Life” and Erykah Badu’s “America’s Promise”. Ms. Bennett is best noted for her soothing background vocals which blessed international recording artists like D’Angelo, Ledisi, Michael Bolton, Julie Dexter, and Deborah Bond.
This exclusive digital EP is a collection of songs that are collaborations on other artists and producers albums from the U.K., Greece, Spain, and the U.S. From seeds carefully chosen and planted, I share with you the beauty and soulfulness of My Bloom. A shared dance: DUET OF DAFFODILS.
