Sylvana Joyce & The Moment
with Big Wake

MTV, OurStage, CMJ...these are some of the big names in the industry already buzzing about Sylvana Joyce and her band, The Moment. Their intensively eclectic sound, coupled with their riveting performances is a demonstration of supreme musicianship, punk theatrics, and Balkan chutzpah that compare them to the likes of Gogol Bordello, Dresden Dolls, and Grace Potter. They have opened for soul sister Nikka Costa and the progressive Jazz Rock trio The Aristocrats, and recently played LiftFest 2012 as openers for Lettuce.

After over 100 performances in the past two years all over the Northeast, they are returning to Drom to release their promising debut album, "For You, Comrade", which they succesfully funded through Kickstarter.

Big Wake radiates positive energy and powerful emotion, combining earnest lyricism with dynamic melodies to create a sound that shanked the soul. Gerry Rosenthal (guitar/vocals) and brother Henry Rosenthal (keys/vocals) combine muscular leads with an intertwining dual-line guitar/keys attack, and Marty O'Kane (bass/vocals) and Jeff Fernandes (drums/vocals) add soaring vocal harmonies while keeping the rhythm steadily thundering beneath it all. Big Wake puts on a show that is vibrant with life and jam packed with passion--the four members' diverse musical backgrounds in jazz, singer-songwriter, improvisational rock, indie, and even drum corps help them blend and transcend genres, allowing them to collectively harness the spirit of an audience the way no other group can. Their 2011 debut album was cited as "immaculately produced and performed, that could make this your favorite album of 2011...soaring vocals, melodic bass lines, piano in the forefront, propulsive drums and crunchy guitar." ( The band plans to record their follow up record in the summer/fall of 2013.
