Come get a taste of the Sephardic Music Festival ( with this NY summer teaser featuring the international Sephardic Ladino songstress, Sarah Aroeste, the Middle Eastern-inspired ensemble, Asefa and Diwon's New Game album release party bringing us into the night with party vibes.

The Sephardic Music Festival each winter presents the most exciting current acts in Sephardic music, bringing together musicians from North America and abroad. This summer teaser is no exception. Bringing an eclectic mix of Sephardic-infused music, Aroeste, Asefa and Diwon all bring their unique styles to Drom to present an evening of contemporary Sephardic sounds sure to entice your ears and get you up on your feet.

Sarah Aroeste:
International Ladino singer Sarah Aroeste travels the globe fusing both original and 15th-century Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) songs with her unique blend of rock, funk, jazz and blues. Coming to Drom with music collaborator Shai Bachar (piano), Fima Ephron (bass), Dan Pugach (drums) and special guests, Aroeste brings to life her most recent album, Gracia-- a detailed mix of feminist, experimental, rock-beat, retro-chic, Mediterranean-infused Ladino songs.

Asefa :
In clubs and on stages worldwide, ASEFA blends North African grooves and Sephardi traditional sounds with jazz and popular music sensibilities. Bandleader and ethnomusicologist Samuel R. Thomas draws from a uniquely diverse instrumentation -- vocals, sax, oud, guitar, bass, guimbri, drums, and loads of percussion -- and his work in several different Sephardi milieus to create fresh settings for the texts and styles from the region. Based in NYC, ASEFA is a collective of some of the area's finest musicians.

Diwon celebrates his album release the night before it's public release with us at Drom. The album, "New Game," features Anti artist, Tim Fite, palindrome mc Paul Barman and Royal, one of Hollywood's hottest rapper/producers responsible for some of the hottest songs by Tyga, The Game, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Ke$ha, and more. "New Game" is a breakneck journey through the strange loops of his unique artistic process, built from funky-drummer style percussion or bass-heavy West Coast production, laced with everything from crunchy psychedelic guitars to Middle Eastern melisma. It's the producer as auteur, every track taking you through the emotional space of the artist, like Kanye or Godard.
