In 1969, 45 years ago, the legendary rock band MOTT THE HOOPLE started an amazing 6-year rock’n’roll saga that took them on a chaotic journey around the world. In 1973 Morgan Fisher joined them on keyboards, for their triumphant final two years which included The Hoople album, the Live album, and a week long Broadway performance - the first rock band ever to do so.
Before Mott, Morgan had already had a dramatic five-year career that took him rapidly from pop idol (#1 hit with The Love Affair in 1968) to underground prog-rock pioneer with his own band, simply called Morgan.
During Mott, Morgan got to see the USA at its wildest, touring with bands like The New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Kiss, Joe Walsh, Blue Oyster Cult.
After Mott, Morgan’s career has followed numerous musical paths, from the wildest punk rock to the most tranquil meditation music. Since 1985 he has been living in Japan. Artists he has worked with include Wayne (now Jayne) County, Roger Daltrey, Hamza-El-Din, Yoko Ono, Peter Buck (REM), Robyn Hitchcock, and Queen.
On Monday, October 6, Morgan returns to New York City for the first time since 1978 for a rare live appearance at Drom. In this fascinating event, Morgan will tell his story, play live music, and show rare photos and videos from his archives. The focus is on the Mott era, but will also include many tales of the heroes he has met on his 46-year musical adventure, such as David Bowie, Mick Jagger, George Harrison, Yoko Ono, and many, many others. Classic hits like “Everlasting Love” and “All The Young Dudes” will be featured. Morgan will also answer any questions you may have.
