NYU Jazz Orchestra Press Release 

                Rich Shemaria, Musical Director

The NYU Jazz Orchestra, a classic 18-piece big band, is the premier performing jazz ensemble at NYU Steinhardt featuring talented jazz musicians from around the world.  With NYU Jazz Studies located in the heart of Greenwich Village, the group performs regularly at legendary venues including the Blue Note, Birdland and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Internationally recognized jazz artists have been featured with the band over the years including; Joe Lovano, Lee Konitz, Chris Potter, Lenny Pickett, Randy Brecker, John Scofield and Wayne Krantz to name a few, and has recorded two CD’s with legendary jazz record producer Teo Macero. 

Rich Shemaria 
Composer, arranger, pianist, conductor Rich Shemaria has serving as musical director for the UMO Jazz Orchestra in Helsinki working with such artists as Michael Brecker, Mercer Ellington, Roy Hargrove and Dee Dee Bridgewater.  A member of the NYU Jazz Faculty since 2003 and is also a founding member of the eclectic jazz group Combo Nuvo.
