The Silver Lining Project Community Launch Party

#SilverLining is a mixtape and The Peace Poets' 2nd musical project. Nine producers contribute a freshly unique and diverse sound that works as the foundation for compelling lyrics; ranging from playful punchlines to philosophical poetry. Come through to our Community Launch Party and groove to this compilation of "political-lyrical-spiritual' journey that celebrates friendship, Hip-Hop and community.

AND we're hyped to share the stage with legendary M-1 from Dead Prez, rocking the mic!

The Peace Poets are a collective of artists that celebrate, examine and advocate for life through music and poetry. Their art can take you on a journey from the Boogie Down to Berlin, from the border to the bodega. Their style emphasizes lyricism, rhythm and authenticity. They hail from the Bronx and have been rocking the mic since 2005.

The Peace Poets fuse their words with beatboxing, storytelling, and live music to raise awareness on social justice issues regarding police brutality, immigration rights, gender equity, individual transformation, and community empowerment. They perform not only at most major venues and institutions of higher learning throughout New York City and the surrounding area, but also in the subway, in soup kitchens, at shelters, and even in places as unexpected as courtrooms and rehab centers. They have shared their art in prisons, community centers, refugee camps, classrooms, war zones, suburban libraries, youth detention facilities, rallies, protests, and on the blocks they live on.

They have performed in over 40 countries, and notable venues such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, The AdColor Awards and Industry Conference, The Hispanic Heritage Awards and The Hip Hop Cuban Symposium. They have also had the honor of sharing the stage with Harry Belafonte, Dr. Cornel West, Danny Glover, Amiri Baraka, Rosario Dawson, and others.

M-1 Mutulu Olugbala, is a global force connector using the mic, music production, film, and workshops to reshape the reality of the masses and redefine revolutionary culture. One half of evolutionary and trendsetting dead prez, their album LET'S GET FREE shook the hip-hop world 15 years ago and still continues to inspire communities to master political education through rhyme. In 2012, he formed Sound Weapon Global Media and teamed up with Italian musician, producer, and DJ Walter Buonnano to venture into digital and electronic music. Their collaboration led to AP2P (All Power to the People) and an album of the same name. M1 continued his trailblazing with simultaneous releases of dead prez's INFORMATION AGE and the Gil Scott Heron tribute album M1, BRIAN JACKSON AND THE NEW MIDNIGHT BAND IN EVOLUTIONARY MINDED. Mutulu traverses genres and international borders to keep expanding revolutionary culture and soundscapes.
