 - Ustad Naseeruddin Saami -

The legendary classical vocalist from Pakistan (Delhi Gharana)

The name of Ustad Naseeruddin Saami needs no introduction in the field of Classical Music.  His ancestors founded the original Delhi Gharana of Music and his family traces his ancestry to Hazrat Amir Khusro's first disciple Mian Samath.
Saami Sahab is the grandson of QUTUB BAKSH alias USTAD TAAN RAS KHAN SAHEB who was the Master of Music in the court of India's last emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar.
His family has been practising their art of music for nearly 800 years.
Ustad Naseeruddin Saami has been guided by four mentors – the main one being his Ustad and uncle Munshi Raziuddin.

Saami Sahab started his training from the age of 10 years.  His style of singing is called ‘Sudh Bani’.  From 1958-62, he trained with his grand uncle Sardar Khan in Lahore.  His other three uncles were trained him in Karachi.
Apart from being a stalwart of Khayal Gayaki and performing Raagas and Bandishes with the unique style and stamp of the Delhi Gharana, he also shows his versatility by singing, Sadara, Thumri, Tarana, Dadra, select Qawwali and Ghazals.
Saami sahab has performed frequently on Coke Studio Pakistan which has earned him worldwide recognition and fame. He recently held sell-out performances at the All Night Concert as well as the Chhandayan Center of Indian Music in Manhattan. This is his first tour of the United States.
