Cuban Pianist Jorge Luis Pacheco

Show Dates/Times: Friday June 28th 6PM and 8:30PM

Hailing from Havana, Cuba, Jorge Luis Pacheco is a fiery young pianist with "flying hands." He has performed all over the world including prominent jazz clubs, theaters, and festivals such as the Blue Note Jazz Festival in New York earlier this year. Pacheco has performed at the Apollo Theater in October where a lifetime achievement award will be presented to Herbie Hancock.

He has collaborated with the likes of Wynton Marsalis and the JLCO and Arturo O' Farrill. He is a virtuoso pianist, composer, arranger, percussionist and vocalist. Monty Alexander says that he "defies genre" often playing Cuban jazz, traditional Cuban music, original documentary scores, and a new violin symphony called "Andino" that he composed, which was inspired by Peru and Ecuador.

Pacheco is a passionate, exciting entertainer on stage and constantly captures the audience's attention with his heartfelt performances and electric energy. Cab Calloway's daughter Cabella Calloway was one of those audience members who instantly became a fan and supporter. She has gifted Cab Calloway's piano to Pacheco because she stated that it's "what her father would have wanted." Celebrate great music with gorgeous Latin Jazz by Jorge Luis Pacheco, hailed by Wynton Marsalis who said "This young musician has a very bright future.

DROM is one of Manhattan's most sought after venues for world music and international sounds. Voted by Village Voice as "Best New Dance Club" last month in their Best of NYC issue, the club has a live stage for performances, a restaurant, bar and lounge. Here is an excerpt from the Voice "The basement dancerie Drom celebrated its reopening in the spring after quietly shutting down more than a year ago. The time off did the space a service. Once just another bar hidden among the dives of the East Village, Drom has now fully embraced its original aim of bringing global dance music to NYC. The club hosts a cozy lounge that leads way into a gorgeous dance floor backlit by the warm flicker of bar lights and a Turkish chandelier that looms above." Full Bar Available, Drinks are available for purchase. Please call 917-439-4331 or email [email protected] for more information.
